Dr Dinesh Gooneratne

Dr. Dinesh Gooneratne is a radiologist who has a sub-specialist interest in abdominal and pelvic imaging.  He has worked at spectrum medical imaging since 2017 and is a staff specialist at Liverpool Hospital. 

 

He completed his medical training in New Zealand, followed by radiology training at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne. During this time, he also completed a master of medicine degree at the University of Melbourne. 

 

In 2015 he moved to Sydney for a one year MRI fellowship at Liverpool hospital, with experience gained in brain and spine, cardiac, abdominal and musculoskeletal imaging.   

 

This was followed by a one year fellowship undertaking sub-specialist training in abdominal and pelvic imaging at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. This included additional rotations in obstetric ultrasound and advanced ultrasound guided interventional procedures. 

 

Dr. Gooneratne has a strong interest in teaching and is a conjoint lecturer with the University of New South Wales and previously held the role of co-director of training at Liverpool Hospital.  He actively engages in continuing professional development and regularly attends the gastroenterology and rectal cancer MDT radiology meetings at Liverpool Hospital. His main sites of practice are Liverpool and Miranda.
